Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Adapt curriculum materials and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Implement assistive and adaptive technology, including Braille, audiobooks, and magnification tools
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Advocate for accessible learning environments and resources
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
