Teacher of Visually Impaired in Arvada, CO

A rewarding opportunity awaits an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired who is passionate about empowering students across all grade levels. Based in the Denver area, this full-time, contract position runs from July 31, 2026, through May 26, 2027, following a Monday through Friday schedule for a total of 35 hours per week. Expect to work onsite within a district-based assignment, supporting students from early childhood education through high school across multiple locations.

Your daily focus will encompass assessment, educational planning, specialized instruction, and providing critical support for visually impaired students. While orientation and mobility certification is preferred, candidates who meet the licensure requirements will be considered.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education certification with a Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0–21) endorsement
• Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in visual impairment special education (or state-recognized equivalent)
• Background in administering and interpreting vision-related assessments and Expanded Core Curriculum evaluations
• Experience in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Background check and fingerprint clearance (district-specific requirements)
• Orientation and Mobility certification is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional vision assessments and determine eligibility for educational disability services
• Develop, implement, and review IEPs tailored to individual student needs
• Provide vision-specific instruction and support to students, including those with multiple disabilities
• Adapt environments and materials to maximize accessibility and learning
• Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and district staff
• Maintain comprehensive records and uphold professional compliance
