Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field (with emphasis on Visual Impairment or Special Education preferred)
• Valid teaching certification specific to Visual Impairment (TVI)
• Experience or training working with children and youth with visual impairments in school settings
• Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility resources
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Collaborative approach to working with teachers, support staff, and families

Your Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans for students with visual impairments, ensuring accessibility and compliance with IEPs
• Assess student needs and progress, utilizing appropriate instructional methods and adaptive materials
• Integrate Braille and/or large-print materials and technologies as needed
• Consult and collaborate with other educators and therapists to foster inclusive classroom environments
• Advocate for student accommodations and effectively communicate with families regarding their child’s progress
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to team meetings to support each student’s goals
