Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credentials specific to teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including general educators, therapists, and families
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment
- Previous experience in school-based settings is highly desirable
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ vision-related educational needs and design tailored lesson plans
- Deliver direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and compensatory skills
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed
- Advocate for and coordinate adaptive materials and classroom modifications
- Consult regularly with staff to provide training and resources that support visually impaired students
- Serve as an educational partner to families, offering guidance and support throughout the school year
