As a contracted educator specializing in visual impairment, you will support learners ranging from Early Childhood Education through high school, all within a dynamic district-based setting in the Denver area. This role blends assessment, instructional planning, and collaborative teamwork—offering both diverse challenges and meaningful rewards throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Preferred candidates may also hold an Orientation & Mobility Certification; while not required, it is highly valued for this position.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education certificate with Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0–21) endorsement
  • Master’s degree or higher in special education visual impairment or an approved equivalent
  • Experience in administering and interpreting vision assessments and functional evaluations
  • Commitment to serving the entire school year, from July 31, 2026 through May 26, 2027
  • Ability to complete district-required background check and fingerprinting
  • Orientation & Mobility Certification preferred but not required

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vision-related and functional assessments; develop and implement IEPs tailored to students’ visual needs
  • Deliver specialized instruction and academic support for students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities
  • Adapt materials and classroom environments to facilitate student learning and access
  • Collaborate closely with parents, teachers, and district staff to ensure comprehensive support and transparency
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold compliance with district policies and strategic goals
  • Occasional performance of additional duties as assigned
