This contract opportunity is ideal for passionate educators skilled in working with students who have visual impairments and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

In this role, you’ll work across multiple school sites within the district, providing specialized instruction and support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialist. Your expertise will help students succeed academically, develop crucial life skills, and navigate their learning environments confidently.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist
  • Experience supporting K-12 students with varying degrees of visual impairment
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology, Braille, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Flexibility to travel between schools within the district

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students across up to six sites (subject to change)
  • Assess student needs and write measurable goals for IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Support teachers and staff in adapting classroom materials and environments
  • Instruct students in O&M skills as needed to enhance independence and safety
  • Regularly communicate progress and strategies with families and school personnel

This position begins as soon as possible and is expected through December 2026, with the potential to extend for the full academic year. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM.
