Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments across various age ranges
- Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials for visual disabilities
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and school staff
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse needs in educational settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional vision and provide recommendations for accommodations and technology
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Offer direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technology
- Consult with classroom teachers and other specialists to support inclusive education
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Conduct ongoing communication with families regarding student goals and achievements
