This contract opportunity is tailored for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) eager to focus on individualized instruction and advocacy. Collaborate closely with a supportive team and help empower two elementary students—one in 3rd grade with more profound visual impairments, and one in 4th grade who utilizes glasses but still benefits from vision services.
Key Qualifications:
- Licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired required (flexibility for out-of-state licenses)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of IEP processes and ability to document progress effectively
- Patient, compassionate, and creative approach to instruction
- Ability to tailor strategies and materials to varying degrees of visual accessibility needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct vision services for three hours per week, focusing on skills development, curriculum access, and accommodations
- Use one hour weekly for IEP-related documentation, planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the specific needs of each student
- Foster constructive relationships with school staff, parents, and relevant specialists
- Monitor and report student progress, advocating for necessary resources and support
