Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain certification
- Experience working with students who are blind or have visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and specialized instructional methods
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to design and adapt Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals to match student needs
- Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for facilitating student success
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and services to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings
- Collaborate with classroom educators and related service providers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning media requirements
- Instruct students in the use of adaptive equipment and Braille, as needed
- Develop and implement individualized strategies to promote access and inclusion throughout the school day
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and strategies for continued growth
