Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Bellevue, Washington

This contract position seeks a dedicated professional who can bring expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and Braillist, ensuring that all learners receive accessible instruction and the resources needed to thrive.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification and/or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Proficiency in Braille, including transcription, production, and instruction
• Experience adapting curriculum and materials for visually impaired learners
• Knowledge of assistive technology and specialized equipment for visual disabilities
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with students, educators, and families
• Commitment to fostering inclusion and independence in students with visual impairments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in Braille and use of assistive technologies to K-12 students with visual impairments
• Assess individual student needs and tailor materials, lessons, and strategies appropriately
• Collaborate with educational staff to modify classroom materials and deliver training on best practices for inclusion
• Support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided
• Engage families in the educational process, offering support and resources as needed
