Desired Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
• Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
• Strong understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and specialized instructional methods
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and adapt lesson plans to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students
• Use braille, large print, assistive technology, and other resources to ensure access to curriculum
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Provide guidance and resources to families to support student learning and growth
• Evaluate and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed for optimal achievement
• Advocate for necessary accommodations within the school environment
