Your role will focus on providing tailored instructional support and adaptive resources to ensure each student has the opportunity to fully participate and succeed in their educational journey.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technologies, and specialized instructional methods
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and adapt lesson plans to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students
- Use braille, large print, assistive technology, and other resources to ensure access to curriculum
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Provide guidance and resources to families to support student learning and growth
- Evaluate and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed for optimal achievement
- Advocate for necessary accommodations within the school environment
