Qualifications and Experience
- Valid certification to teach students with visual impairments (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students in school settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and Braille instruction
- Proven ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to advocacy for students and fostering inclusive education
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services for students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ unique needs and develop appropriate instructional strategies
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to adapt curriculum and materials
- Train school personnel and families in the use of assistive technology and accommodations
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support transition planning and orientation/mobility training as needed
