Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification related to Visual Impairments (TVI) or ability to obtain
• Previous experience providing services to children with visual impairments in a school or educational setting
• Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Flexibility and creativity in meeting varied student needs
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an educational multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ vision-related needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Deliver direct instruction in specialized areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, or assistive technologies
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure instructional materials and learning activities are accessible
• Provide ongoing consultation and training to school personnel regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired students
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
• Adapt curriculum materials and provide resources that promote student independence
