Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable consulting with teachers, families, and other specialists

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to determine student needs
  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and curricula
  • Provide direct and consultative services in multiple school settings as needed
  • Train and support classroom staff, peers, and families on accessibility methods and specialized equipment
  • Maintain detailed progress records and participate in IEP meetings
  • Help ensure students have the skills and tools needed for academic and social success
