An Early Childhood school in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a skilled educator specializing in visual impairments to support a newly enrolled kindergarten student. This contract position is for the current school year, providing direct instruction and consultation services to ensure the student's successful integration and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1 hour per day of specialized instruction tailored to the needs of a visually impaired kindergarten student.
  • Conduct 2 hours per week of consultation with the classroom teacher to collaborate on strategies, accommodations, and support.
  • Develop individualized lesson plans to enhance the student's access to the curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess the student's progress regularly to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Utilize assistive technology and materials designed for visual impairments.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student independence.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments or equivalent credentials.
  • Experience working with early childhood or elementary students, preferably kindergarten age.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and staff.
  • Knowledge of assistive devices and instructional strategies for visually impaired learners.
  • Ability to provide both direct instruction and consultative support.
