Step into a rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments, working across multiple school locations in the Buford, GA area. This contract position offers the chance to create meaningful learning experiences from July 27th, 2026, through May 25th, 2027. As a part-time educator (approximately 20 hours each week), you’ll play a pivotal role in helping students thrive academically and independently.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education – Visual Impairment (P–12) teaching certificate, OR
- Special Education certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting is highly valued
- Familiarity with creating and adapting accessible instructional materials and technology
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Ability to travel to multiple school sites as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as needed
- Assess students’ educational needs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on visual access and independence
- Consult with general education staff to facilitate effective accommodations and inclusion strategies
- Teach assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other core competencies for visually impaired learners
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports for each student
- Act as a supportive resource for families regarding their child’s visual needs and school programming
