Ideal qualifications and experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure
  • Experience developing and delivering individualized educational plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for partnering with educators, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to adapt curriculum materials and maintain thorough documentation
  • Previous experience in school-based settings preferred

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct instructional and consultative services to students with visual impairments
  • Assessing students’ functional vision and learning needs
  • Collaborating on IEP teams to establish goals and monitor student progress
  • Providing training and resources in assistive technologies
  • Supporting general education teachers to implement accommodations
  • Advocating for student needs within the school community
