Make a meaningful difference for students with visual impairments by supporting their educational journeys for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract role is designed for dedicated Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who embrace collaboration, innovation, and a passion for accessibility in education. You’ll work with caseloads of approximately 25-30 students, primarily with vision-related disabilities and, in some cases, additional challenges such as severe behavioral or physical needs.
In this rewarding position, you’ll provide direct and consultative support to students in 2-3 educational centers in the Plymouth area. Your expertise in adapting curriculum and supporting inclusive classroom environments will be crucial for student growth and achievement in a specialized setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI); please ensure your credentials are current and ready to present
- Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse instructional environment, including severe behavioral and physical disability settings
- Collaborative approach with professional staff, students, and families
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to students with vision impairments across two to three education centers
- Adapt learning materials for accessibility and support classroom staff with best practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Maintain accurate records, progress monitoring, and communication with team members and families
- Participate in meetings and professional development as required
