In this contract position, you’ll provide essential instruction tailored for students with visual impairments, making a lasting impact on their academic journey. This is a part-time opening (10-15 hours per week), beginning August 31, 2026, and continuing through June 14, 2027.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Maryland Teaching Certification is required
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, or similar role, in a K-12 environment
- Strong familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and educational staff
- Commitment to individualized education plans and inclusive best practices
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students who are visually impaired, following individualized education programs
- Develop, adapt, and modify curriculum materials using Braille, tactile graphics, and accessible technologies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- Provide progress updates, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to goal-setting for students
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering training on assistive devices and accommodations
- Monitor and document student progress, ensuring compliance with all relevant educational standards
