What You’ll Need:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience providing instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers, families, and support staff
- Familiarity with assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Understanding of federal and state special education regulations
- Comfortable adapting instruction and materials for various student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to ensure accessible classroom experiences
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Educate and support staff on inclusive strategies and adaptive technology
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and student evaluations
- Advocate for students’ access, both in and out of the classroom setting
- Provide ongoing guidance to families regarding resources and student progress
