Make a lasting difference in the lives of students as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired. In this contract position, you will support approximately 20 K-12 students, providing specialized itinerant services throughout the district and collaborating closely with an experienced virtual TVI already on assignment. Your role is vital in ensuring every learner receives the resources and guidance they need to access a meaningful education.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education License with endorsement for Visually Impaired Students
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent classroom teaching experience, ideally in visual impairment
  • Strong expertise in creating and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with related services staff and other educators
  • Confidence traveling throughout the district to deliver services as needed
  • Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative itinerant services to approximately 20 students with varying levels of visual impairment, from kindergarten through high school
  • Develop, write, and execute IEPs in close partnership with families and educational teams
  • Adapt curriculum, learning materials, and instructional strategies for visual accessibility
  • Communicate consistently with classroom staff, families, and the virtual TVI to ensure continuity of support
  • Monitor student progress, documenting growth and making data-driven recommendations
  • Participate in meetings or professional development as assigned
