In this role, you will collaborate with educational teams to ensure accessibility and foster an inclusive learning environment for all students. Your expertise will help students build independence, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed academically and socially.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Flexibility to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student abilities and design individualized instruction to support academic and functional goals
- Provide direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, and compensatory skills
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and materials for students with visual impairments
- Monitor student progress and update IEPs as needed in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Serve as a resource to families and educators, offering advocacy and training as necessary
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with district and state requirements
