Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
• Experience working with children or students with visual impairments in a school setting
• Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools
• Strong communication and advocacy skills
• Commitment to collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive learning environments
• Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials for various visual needs

Role Responsibilities:

• Assess student needs and design individualized education plans for students with visual impairments
• Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and expanded core curriculum skills
• Consult and collaborate with general and special education teachers to modify curriculum and environments
• Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and adapt instructional approaches as needed
• Serve as a resource for families, offering strategies and support to promote student independence
