You’ll collaborate closely with school staff and families, designing and implementing individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments. This contract-based role offers 10–15 hours per week, fitting well for professionals seeking a flexible and rewarding schedule. The assignment begins on August 31, 2026, and runs through June 14, 2027.

Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland teaching certification specific to visually impaired education (required)
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in school settings
  • Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive educational materials
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills for managing documentation and student progress

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with students, providing individualized and group instruction based on IEP goals
  • Develop and modify lesson plans, classroom activities, and assessments for accessibility
  • Facilitate the use of Braille and other accessible materials and technologies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure full student participation
  • Track student growth and progress, contributing to IEP meetings and documentation requirements
