Qualifications:

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, ideally in a K-12 environment
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Commitment to creating a supportive and adaptable learning atmosphere

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments in individual or small group settings
• Develop and adapt curriculum materials to be accessible and engaging for all learners
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure cohesive support
• Assess student progress and modify teaching strategies as needed
• Advocate for necessary accommodations, modifications, and technologies to enhance student learning
• Maintain accurate records as required by state and federal guidelines
