Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement or specialization in teaching students with visual impairments
  • Experience working with children or youth in educational settings, especially those with visual disabilities
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accommodations for visual impairments
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and school staff
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Organized, adaptable, and passionate about supporting diverse learning needs

Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and strengths to develop appropriate individualized lesson plans
  • Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, low-vision devices, and adaptive technology

  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise and advocacy for student needs
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of student progress and ongoing assessments
