Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a supportive school setting near Chattanooga, TN! This full-time (35 hours/week, with possible part-time consideration) contract opportunity is ideal for passionate educators eager to serve an itinerant K-12+ caseload, working with both students in general education classrooms and learners with multiple disabilities.

You’ll have the opportunity to create accessible learning environments, traveling between schools within a carefully prioritized local area to minimize commute times. This role has been vacant throughout the last school year, so your expertise is very much needed to help students reach their potential.

Qualifications:

• Active DOE Certification required
• Successful completion of background check/fingerprinting required
• Proficient with Braille instruction and a variety of Assistive Technology; familiarity with Federal Quota program is a plus
• Experience supporting students from elementary through high school, including those with multiple disabilities
• Skilled at drafting and reviewing IEPs using digital platforms (TN Pulse preferred)
• Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team and effectively communicate with families, students, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and consultation for visually impaired students across assigned campuses
• Travel between locations as scheduled, with efforts to reduce drive time
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and document progress on the TN Pulse platform
• Guide general education staff and families in best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal requirements
