Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the Chattanooga, TN area. This contract position will have you working full-time (35 hours per week, with the possibility of part-time considered), beginning August 5, 2026 and continuing through May 19, 2027. You’ll provide vital services to K-12+ students across elementary, middle, and high schools as part of an itinerant team, traveling between campuses with minimal drive times thanks to focused geographic scheduling.

As an educator for students with visual impairments, your familiarity with Braille and assistive technology will be key, especially if you have experience utilizing resources through the Federal Quota program. You’ll work with both general education and multiple disability classrooms, collaborating with general and special educators to ensure your students thrive academically. Participation in IEP meetings using the TN Pulse platform and supporting instruction on Chromebooks are essential responsibilities.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Current DOE certification
  • TVI credential (required)
  • Experience teaching K-12+ visually impaired students
  • Proficiency with Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
  • Comfort navigating technology and digital learning platforms
  • Experience working in a school-based, itinerant role is highly valued
  • Willingness to complete background check/fingerprinting

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct instructional services to visually impaired students in general and specialized settings
  • Travel between schools within a defined region, supporting a balanced caseload
  • Facilitate and document progress in IEP meetings and on district platforms
