Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Collaborative mindset for working with school staff and families
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct ongoing vision assessments and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Recommend and integrate assistive technology and adaptive materials
- Advocate for student accommodations and support access to curriculum
- Support professional development for school personnel on visual impairment needs
