Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Prior experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred
• Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Collaborative mindset for working with school staff and families
• Ability to adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Conduct ongoing vision assessments and progress monitoring
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Recommend and integrate assistive technology and adaptive materials
• Advocate for student accommodations and support access to curriculum
• Support professional development for school personnel on visual impairment needs
