Teacher of Visually Impaired in Cheney, WA

Key qualifications and desired experience:

• Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students with visual impairments across a range of ages and abilities
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
• Ability to adapt curriculum and learning materials for accessibility
• Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and adapt curriculum materials for students who are visually impaired
• Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs and abilities
• Consult with general education staff to support classroom accommodations and modifications
• Teach students to access and utilize assistive technologies for learning
• Work closely with families, caregivers, and external service providers to ensure continuity of support
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and regularly update education teams
• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school-based trainings as required
