This contract position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact, working with students in diverse educational settings as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in an educational environment
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility strategies is highly valued
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and address the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments
- Provide direct and consultative services to students in various educational settings
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques for accessibility
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Monitor student progress, update IEPs, and document outcomes in compliance with school and district guidelines
- Advocate for accessible environments and promote independence for students
