Desired Qualifications:

• Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with assistive technologies, Braille, and adaptive instructional materials
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Prior school-based experience is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting materials to meet their unique needs
• Assess students’ functional vision and needs, recommending appropriate supports and adaptations
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure students’ access to the general education curriculum
• Develop individualized lesson plans and goals in alignment with IEP objectives
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies and supports as necessary
• Provide training and guidance to staff and families on the use of adaptive technology and resources
• Advocate for accessible learning environments and promote student independence
