Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Impairments, Special Education, or related field
• Proven experience implementing IEPs focused on visual impairment
• Strong skills with assistive technology and Braille instruction
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, families, and students
• Current state teaching credentials or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Adaptable, patient, and resourceful approach to individualized instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and intervention to students with visual impairments in multiple grade levels
• Develop and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP teams
• Assess students’ needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes
• Provide training and consultation for teachers, staff, and family members on strategies and adaptive technology
• Guide students in developing independence, orientation, mobility, and self-advocacy skills
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute expertise to the school community
