Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification and credentialing to teach students who are visually impaired
  • Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a school setting
  • Thorough understanding of Braille and adapted instructional strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and other support professionals
  • Commitment to fostering independence, academic success, and inclusion for students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support to one visually impaired student
  • Design and adapt lesson plans, materials, and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and related service providers
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
  • Conduct assessments related to the student’s visual impairment to inform individualized programming
