Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) on a contract basis near the San Antonio area. In this role, you'll foster independence and academic achievement for students with visual impairments through both direct instruction and critical consultative support. You’ll collaborate closely with staff, families, and related service providers to meet each student’s unique educational needs.

Ideal candidates bring expertise in assessments such as Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments. Your impact will extend beyond direct instructional service, including staff consultations, material preparation, and active participation in ARD meetings to advocate for appropriate resources and accommodations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored direct instructional services to students with visual impairments
  • Providing indirect support through consultation with instructional and support staff
  • Preparing and adapting instructional materials to meet individualized education plans
  • Conducting and interpreting evaluations (FVE, LMA, O&M) for current and prospective students
  • Participating in ARD meetings to support development and review of student IEPs

Desired qualifications:

  • Valid Texas teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience or strong knowledge in direct and indirect service delivery for students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency with specialized assessments and adaptive instructional materials
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with educators, students, and families

This contract position offers the stability of weekly pay, with rates starting at $35+ per hour (commensurate with experience). You’ll also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, and 401k matching.
