Qualifications & Experience:

  • State certification to teach students with visual impairments (TVI)
  • Proven experience or coursework related to working with visually impaired students in educational settings
  • Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, educators, and support staff
  • Ability to modify curriculum and materials based on individual needs
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and Braille literacy

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized instruction to one visually impaired student to enhance learning and independence
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans in accordance with IEP goals and state standards
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to integrate accommodations and modifications into the general education environment
  • Support progress tracking and reporting, maintaining clear and thorough documentation
  • Consult with families and team members to promote consistent strategies and reinforcement across settings
