Qualifications & Experience:

• Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or comparable credential
• Previous experience working with students with visual impairments required
• Strong ability to adapt instructional materials and techniques for accessibility
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility strategies
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with administration, staff, and families
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving student needs and schedules

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to the student’s requirements
• Provide direct instruction in core academic content and expanded core curriculum as needed
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify classroom materials and activities
• Facilitate access to assistive technology and train student in its use
• Serve as an advocate for the student to promote inclusion and equal access within the school environment
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt strategies as necessary
• Communicate regularly with parents and school team to review goals and progress
