Step confidently into a meaningful role supporting students across a diverse K-12 population as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification. Based near Clermont, FL, this full-time contract position spans the entire academic year, from early August through May, and is ideal for travel professionals eager to impact communities where expertise is in high demand.
Direct involvement includes serving approximately 15–20 students district-wide, across 13 schools, providing a mix of direct instruction and consultative services. The majority of your work will be on-site, with a possibility of a hybrid schedule—offering the option to combine in-person support with remote sessions, pending district approval. As the home base, the district main office provides flexibility for your weekly schedule and commute, with collaboration encouraged to tailor your assignments.
Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Professional License as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
- At least some school-based experience is strongly preferred but not strictly required
- Strong background in administering screenings and educational assessments
- Comfortable working independently across multiple school settings
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver both direct, in-person services and indirect/consultative support to students K-12
- Assess student needs and conduct screenings to determine appropriate interventions
- Travel itinerantly among multiple schools (2–3 campuses daily)
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to promote student success
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district processes for onboarding and documentation
