Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Clermont, Florida

Travel professionals skilled in providing services for visually impaired students are invited to consider an exciting contract opportunity in the Clermont, FL area. This position specializes in supporting K-12 students across multiple school sites, focusing on both direct and consultative services. While on-site presence is preferred, virtual (VOCO) candidates open to periodic travel for in-person needs are encouraged to apply. The home base will be the district main office, with regular travel to schools (2-3 per day, up to 13 total) around the district.

Qualifications:

• Professional Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
• Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification is essential
• Testing experience for student screenings necessary
• Previous school-based experience is highly valued
• Experience with both direct and indirect student services
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills for itinerant work

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver instructional and support services to a diverse caseload of 15–20 K-12 students, both directly and consultatively
• Provide services across approximately 13 campus locations (itinerary averages 2-3 schools per day)
• Conduct student screenings and necessary evaluations, utilizing a strong testing background
• Plan and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and maintain required documentation
• Collaborate with district staff and families to optimize educational outcomes for visually impaired students
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate students’ unique needs
