Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with K-12 students in school settings preferred
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility techniques
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to create individualized instructional strategies aligned with IEP objectives
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable in fast-paced educational environments

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ vision-related educational needs and develop individualized instruction plans
  • Provide direct and consultative special education services, including Braille and use of assistive devices
  • Collaborate with general education staff, families, and other professionals to support inclusion and student success
  • Monitor progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with IEP requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent conferences as needed
  • Deliver training and guidance for faculty and caregivers on non-visual learning techniques
