Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with K-12 students in school settings preferred
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility techniques
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to create individualized instructional strategies aligned with IEP objectives
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable in fast-paced educational environments
Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ vision-related educational needs and develop individualized instruction plans
- Provide direct and consultative special education services, including Braille and use of assistive devices
- Collaborate with general education staff, families, and other professionals to support inclusion and student success
- Monitor progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with IEP requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and parent conferences as needed
- Deliver training and guidance for faculty and caregivers on non-visual learning techniques
