Preferred Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students who have varying degrees of visual impairment
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individualized and small group instruction tailored to each student’s needs
- Assess students’ visual abilities and modify curriculum content as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and related service providers
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations, assistive devices, and instructional materials
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute informed recommendations for instructional strategies
