Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Columbus, GA

An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide essential services within a supportive educational community. This contract position offers flexibility, with a full-time schedule (at least 37.5 hours per week) and the potential for part-time consideration based on availability. The assignment is scheduled to begin as soon as possible and extend through May 21st, 2027, with the possibility of pre- and post-planning days added.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Georgia Educator Certification in Visual Impairment required
• Skilled in delivering instruction and adaptations for students who are blind or visually impaired
• Comfortable working onsite; remote/virtual instruction is not an option for this role
• Capable of maintaining thorough daily service logs and documentation
• Flexible and open to discussing age group preferences and experience during the interview to determine best placement

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, onsite instructional support and services for students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals to foster student success
• Assess student needs, develop lesson plans, and adapt materials for accessibility
• Maintain accurate records of services and progress, including daily logs
• Engage in IEP meetings and help design effective individualized education programs
• Participate in planning sessions as needed before and after the academic year
