Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility in Texas
- Experience delivering direct instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in conducting Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments
- Strong collaboration skills for consulting with teachers and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to preparing accessible instructional materials and supporting individualized learning needs
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct (instructional) and indirect (consultative) services to visually impaired students in educational settings
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including FVE, LMA, and O&M, to inform tailored education plans
- Actively participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and collaborate on IEP development
- Provide ongoing consultation for staff on best practices, adaptive equipment, and instructional strategies
- Prepare and adapt educational materials to ensure accessibility for all students
- Maintain detailed records of services, progress, and communications as required
