You’ll work directly with students, delivering individualized instructional services, and play a key role in developing accessible learning materials. Beyond teaching, your expertise will support school teams through consultations and comprehensive evaluations, enhancing the inclusive learning environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility for Texas certification
- Proven experience working with visually impaired children in school settings
- Strong knowledge of best practices for direct and indirect services
- Familiarity with conducting and interpreting FVE, LMA, and O&M assessments
- Skilled in collaborating with multidisciplinary school teams and participating in ARD/IEP meetings
- Capable of preparing accessible instructional materials and advising staff on adaptations
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments
- Consult with staff, families, and district personnel to support student needs
- Develop and adapt materials to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Conduct required evaluations including Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments, as well as Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments
- Attend and contribute to ARD/IEP meetings, sharing insights and recommendations
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports
