Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional techniques
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations related to special education services
  • Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred, but enthusiastic new graduates are welcome to apply

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
  • Assess student needs and tailor educational plans to support academic, social, and life skills development
  • Adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility, including the use of Braille and low vision aids
  • Engage with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Monitor student progress and maintain comprehensive, compliant documentation
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to ongoing professional development
