Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
• Experience working with children or adolescents who are visually impaired in an educational setting
• Proficient in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, parents, and service providers
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility strategies (preferred)
• Current state licensure or willingness to obtain required credentials

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement tailored instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
• Assess student needs and progress, providing reports and recommendations to educational teams
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility
• Introduce students to adaptive tools and technology for enhanced independence
• Provide direct and consultative services to facilitate student participation across settings
• Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through individualized and group instruction
