This contract opportunity near Cupertino, CA seeks both an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired as well as an experienced Braillist. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Valid Teaching Certification for Visually Impaired (for TVI applicants)
  • Proficiency in Braille transcription, with relevant certification or experience (for Braillist applicants)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive tools for students with visual impairments
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, and educational teams
  • Commitment to individualized instruction and fostering inclusive classroom environments

In these roles, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing tailored instruction to students with visual impairments and adapting materials as needed (TVI)
  • Transcribing educational resources into Braille and tactile formats (Braillist)
  • Consulting with classroom teachers and staff to ensure all learning environments are accessible
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies based on individual needs
  • Attending IEP meetings and contributing to the development of appropriate educational plans
