Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience or training in Braille and assistive technology for visual impairments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability and creativity in modifying curriculum and materials for diverse needs
- Commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy in students
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction aligned to IEP goals for students with visual impairments
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized educational programs
- Support classroom teachers in adapting materials and teaching strategies
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and daily living skills as needed
- Consult with families, staff, and related service providers to ensure student success
- Track and document student progress, ensuring compliance with all educational regulations
