Make a difference for students with visual impairments by contributing your expertise as an itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 school year. This rewarding opportunity offers a consistent full-time contract schedule and the chance to work closely with a supportive district team in the Dallas, TX, area. As the designated TVI, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring access to education and promoting independence for a caseload of 25 students across 10 campuses, with an office base in the administrative annex for collaboration and planning.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience supporting students who are blind or have low vision within K-12 educational settings
  • Demonstrated ability to build individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to a diverse range of student needs
  • Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
  • Familiarity with adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials for visually impaired learners
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities; able to manage an itinerant schedule effectively

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments across multiple campuses
  • Assess student needs and develop IEP goals specific to visual impairment accommodations
  • Deliver specialized instruction in academic content, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and materials
  • Serve as a district resource for best practices and compliance regarding visual impairment supports
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding student progress
