Key Qualifications:

• Valid California teaching credential with appropriate authorization for teaching students with visual impairments
• Experience working with visually impaired students in a school environment
• Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum adaptations
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including general educators and related service staff
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving student needs

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements
• Provide direct and consultative services for students with visual impairments from preschool through high school
• Instruct students in braille, use of low vision aids, and assistive technologies
• Adapt classroom materials for accessibility and provide guidance to teachers on inclusion strategies
• Collaborate with families, staff, and administration to support overall student growth and participation
• Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and participate in relevant meetings
