Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching credential with a Visually Impaired endorsement or certification (state requirements apply)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments across various age ranges
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in developing and adapting curriculum and using assistive technology
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Flexible, patient, and creative approach to instruction
Responsibilities:
- Create and adapt lesson plans based on students’ unique needs, focusing on accessibility and skill-building
- Provide direct instruction in core academics, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Assess student progress and update IEP goals in partnership with families and staff
- Foster a supportive educational environment for students and advocate for appropriate accommodations
- Train and support teachers and staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Maintain timely documentation and communication with team members and families
