Key Qualifications:
- Valid California teaching credential with appropriate authorization for teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience working with visually impaired students in a school environment
- Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum adaptations
- Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including general educators and related service staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving student needs
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements
- Provide direct and consultative services for students with visual impairments from preschool through high school
- Instruct students in braille, use of low vision aids, and assistive technologies
- Adapt classroom materials for accessibility and provide guidance to teachers on inclusion strategies
- Collaborate with families, staff, and administration to support overall student growth and participation
- Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and participate in relevant meetings
