Empower students to succeed by supporting their unique learning needs as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a contract-based role. This engaging position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students while working onsite for 3-4 days per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid, active South Carolina certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Certs required)
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow educators, related service providers, and families
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students who are visually impaired, adapting curriculum and materials to individual needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Offer direct and consultative support to students, teachers, and staff regarding best practices and accessibility
- Monitor student progress, assess learning, and adjust strategies as needed
- Participate in professional development and stay current on trends and techniques related to visual impairment education
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines for special education services
