A part-time opportunity is available for a qualified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to work with one 6th-grade student, helping ensure their academic experience is accessible and enriching.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia PSC certification with the appropriate Vision Impairment/TVI endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments.
- Knowledge of current best practices, assistive technology, and accessibility strategies.
- Skilled in collaboration and communication with school teams and families.
- Understanding of IEP requirements and compliance in educational settings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized, direct instruction and support to a 6th-grade student with a visual impairment, following all IEP mandates and student needs.
- Conduct two 30-minute specialized sessions per month, focusing on skill-building and access.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment and ensure the provision of required accommodations.
- Consult on assistive technology and strategies for enhancing classroom participation and achievement.
- Monitor academic progress, adjust supports as needed, and provide updates to the student’s school team.
- Support compliance with all IEP services, documentation, and accommodations.
