Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas teaching certification for the visually impaired
  • Experience or strong interest in working with K-12 students who are blind or visually impaired
  • Ability to tailor instructional strategies and materials for diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering inclusion and supporting student independence

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
  • Create, implement, and adapt lesson plans and materials to ensure accessibility and meet student goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
  • Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Advocate for necessary accommodations, assistive technology, and resources to enhance the educational experience
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning for each student
