Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students across a Denver-area district by supporting learners with visual impairments. This full-time, contract opportunity offers the chance to provide critical educational services to individuals from early childhood through high school for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education certification with an endorsement for “Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)”
  • Master’s degree or higher in Special Education Visual Impairment or a closely related field
  • Experience with vision-related assessments, developing IEPs, and delivering instruction for students with visual impairments
  • Familiarity with the Expanded Core Curriculum, adaptive technologies, and classroom modifications
  • Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification preferred, but not required—candidates with this credential will receive priority consideration
  • Ability to complete district-specific background check and fingerprinting requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Administer functional vision and curriculum-based assessments to guide educational planning
  • Design and implement Individualized Education Programs for students with visual impairments
  • Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to diverse age groups and needs, including students with additional disabilities
  • Adapt materials and classroom settings to optimize student accessibility and engagement
  • Provide orientation and mobility services within both school and community settings
  • Collaborate with parents, multidisciplinary teams, and district staff to ensure alignment with district priorities
  • Maintain student records and document all aspects of educational planning and progress
  • Uphold compliance with both district and department guidelines

This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule with 35 hours per week, district-based travel, and the opportunity to shape meaningful outcomes for students. The district values candidates who are committed to serving for the entire contract term.
