A temporary opportunity is available for an experienced Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant to provide specialized support to students with visual impairments. This on-site position runs from April 1 to June 12, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, based in Detroit, MI.

Responsibilities include delivering direct instruction tailored to visually impaired students, conducting evaluations, and offering consultative services. The role also involves collaborating with families, Special Education teams, and supporting individualized education program (IEP) development. Additional duties include facilitating professional development and integrating assistive technology to enhance learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, including at least 2 years in Special Education
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement (SK)
  • Approval from the Michigan Department of Education as a Teacher Consultant for Deaf & Hard of Hearing
