Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Demonstrated experience working with students who have visual impairments in educational settings
- Proficient in adapting curriculum and instructional materials for accessibility
- Skilled in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility support
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with educators, families, and related service providers
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals tailored to individual student needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum and materials to support individualized learning plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure optimal support
- Conduct assessments and track student progress
- Provide training and resources on assistive technology for students and staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive educational planning
