Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Experience providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments in school settings
• Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and related service providers
• Ability to assess student needs and adapt curricula accordingly
• Flexibility and organizational skills to manage caseloads effectively

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development
• Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support access to the general curriculum
• Train staff and family members in the use of adaptive equipment and techniques
• Monitor student progress and modify instruction as needed
• Document services and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
