Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI)
  • Experience working in educational settings or with K-12 students
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and strategies for students’ individual needs
  • Commitment to accessibility and advocacy for visually impaired learners

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ strengths and instructional needs, developing appropriate IEP goals and modifications
  • Provide direct instruction in areas of the expanded core curriculum, such as Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility as required
  • Advise and collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote inclusion
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in accordance with school and legal requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive planning for student success
