Teacher of Visually Impaired in East Falmouth, MA

Empower students with visual impairments to reach their full academic and personal potential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract, full-time position supporting learners from preschool through age 22. This opportunity involves working across multiple school buildings, providing essential vision support and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create accessible learning environments.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred
• Valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Vision Impairment license)
• SEI Endorsement required
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including compensatory/access skills, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility collaboration
• Experience with Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and low-vision devices preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct specialized instruction and consultative support for students with visual impairments across all school settings
• Conduct required vision-specific assessments, including Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs) and Learning Media Assessments (LMAs), to inform eligibility decisions and individualized education program (IEP) planning
• Develop and implement accessible curriculum modifications and educational strategies that align with each student’s unique needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure effective inclusion and access for each learner
• Maintain thorough documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with state and federal regulations
• Serve as an advisor on assistive technology and instructional materials for students and staff
