Teacher of the Visually Impaired in East Falmouth, MA

Shape the future for students with visual impairments in a dynamic contract position as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This full-time opportunity provides meaningful work across the spectrum of grade levels, supporting learners from preschool through age 22 within a collaborative educational environment.

Key qualifications for this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; Master’s in Special Education preferred
• Active Massachusetts DESE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Vision Impairment license)
• SEI Endorsement
• Knowledge of and experience delivering the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including compensatory/access skills, assistive technology, and collaboration with Orientation & Mobility specialists
• Familiarity with Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and low-vision devices is highly valued

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, your responsibilities will encompass:

• Providing direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across three schools, ensuring tailored support from early childhood through transition to adulthood
• Conducting functional vision assessments (FVAs), learning media assessments (LMAs), and other evaluations to help determine eligibility, guide IEP development, and inform service delivery
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, therapists, and families, to create inclusive learning environments
• Developing and adapting educational materials for accessibility, leveraging the latest assistive technology and best practices
• Supporting, teaching, and advocating for student independence and self-advocacy skills in diverse educational settings
